5 Ways to Stay Positive & Motivated with weight loss surgery. These ways will give you the determination to keep reaching for your goals and achieving the true meaning of success.

5 Ways To Stay Positive & Motivated With Weight-Loss Surgery

Think of all the many ways that you started your weight loss journey. Here are 5 ways to stay positive and motivated with weight loss surgery and find what the true meaning of success is on this weight loss journey. I like to look back at why it was so important for me to lose the weight. For myself, it was my overall health (blood pressure for example), my family and most of all myself (self-esteem and simply because I am so worth the effort and deserving of it!).

Although there are moments that I run out of steam and need some encouragement and motivation to keep going and I would like to share 5 things that keep me going forward and not backward.

 Find Inspiration

Watching weight loss or bariatric videos was always helpful and motivating to keep up the good work. I wished I did more of this but simply not having enough time in the day was always my issue. So if you are an avid YouTube lover, watch a few out your week to keep that fire burning. The advice and tips that others give are really helpful to stay on track with eating and exercise that have been on this journey possibly longer than you have.

I find it inspiring to see others losing weight and going through the same process. Watching others you do not seem like you’re not alone on this journey, some people even gain a weight loss buddy in the process which is amazing to have.

Joining a Facebook group, Instagram page or bariatric support group are also beneficial for positive and motivational support.

I love to see before and after shots of others transformation. It just blows me away to see their starting weight and then the weight they are currently.

Also, I find it helpful to ask questions when you are concerned, confused or just want to celebrate a milestone. There is nothing like having the support of others that are in the same boat that you are in.

One group that I am currently in that is really great is BariatricEating Support on Facebook.

I have several people I follow on Instagram but I really get inspired by @a_lighter_nay and @sleevechica.

My healthcare facility has many support groups offered to go to throughout the month. Check with your bariatric healthcare provider or a support group in your area.

Celebrate  Yourself

This is your journey and it can have some ups and downs along the way. It is so important to celebrate every milestone big or small. Why?! Because you are so worth it! Every day you took a step to move forward when you got out of your bed this morning. Yes, that simple as getting out of bed.

Along this new path that you have embarked on it is so important to take time out for yourself and give yourself a break from time to time. For an example, treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure sometimes or a nice long bubble bath after a great workout or a long day. Even pick up a few new pieces of clothing to celebrate your mini or main goals.

Try, Try and Try Again

If you stumble and just feel like giving up after feeling like you just never going to reach goal just know you are making progress because you did not give up. There may come a time where you skip too many workouts and lost your mojo. Or you may have eaten terribly and feel like you just might as well throw in the towel. Do not get discouraged and continue on your journey. This is just that a journey! You may have pitfalls, valleys, rocky paths and mountains throughout your way but just keep going.

Staying on Track

I know this entire thing is about staying positive and motivated for your weight loss surgery journey but I find t always easier to stay positive if I am on track with my diet and exercise.

When I see the progress it is easier to stay focus and on track.

When you noticed that your clothes are a little looser, even if the scale has not budged I am sure you lost inches. There was progress!

When you noticed that you can go up a flight of stairs or walk a little longer on the treadmill without getting out of breath. There is progress!

When you make a better food choice and pass on the bad stuff. There is progress!

Whether you are a veteran or a newbie in your bariatric or weight loss journey staying motivated can be a challenge but knowing what keeps your fire burning or your flame ignited will always keep you moving forward in the right direction.
